I need to be working on about 3 other projects, but instead I made baby sheets. They are super easy and you can make them in any pattern or fabric you may need. (flannel for you northerners). This pattern fits our Graco Pack ‘N Play with Newborn Napper Elite but you can easily adjust it to fit any pack n’ play or crib.
If you are making the sheets for something other than the Graco Pack N’ Play you will need to measure your mattress and adjust accordingly. The measurements for my fabric were 5″ longer and wider than the mattress. Also remember that Pack N’ Play mattresses are not thick like a crib mattress might be. You will need to factor that in if you are making one for a crib.
- Cut fabric to 31″ x 43″
- Hem edges
If you are making a top sheet your work ends here. If you are making the bottom fitted sheet continue onto next step.
- Cut 4 pieces of elastic measuring 2″ each
- Sew middle of each piece onto corner of sheet
- Measure 5″ from the point. Pin and sew edges of elastic piece on each side
- Trim off excess thread and place onto matress
Completely machine washable
I used an old sheet (leftover from previous projects) that I purchased at the Thrift Store for $3.
You could easily make several baby sheets for under $5 this way
Flannel or fleece may be a good choice of fabric if you live in colder climates
Let me know how yours turn out!
P.S. Isn’t this shark the cutest. We bought it last night for the little one. Every Pirate needs a Shark friend!
